Office Syndrome is a group of symptoms caused by prolonged sitting and working at a computer in the same position. This leads to tight and painful neck, shoulder, and back muscles. Some may also experience headaches, hand numbness, or eye strain.
From a TCM perspective, Office Syndrome results from stagnation of Qi (energy) and blood in the meridians, causing pain and tension. Treatment focuses on stimulating the flow of Qi and blood to release blockages.
Acupuncture is the primary treatment for Office Syndrome. Needles are placed at key points on the neck, shoulders, and back, such as Feng Chi (GB20), Jian Jing (GB21), and Da Zhui (GV14), to relax muscles and relieve pain.
In addition to acupuncture, cupping helps draw out toxins and relax tight muscles. Tui Na massage stimulates acupuncture points and releases tension. Herbal compress therapy improves blood circulation through heat.
Most Office Syndrome patients feel improvement after 2-3 sessions, with 5-10 sessions recommended for lasting results. This should be combined with proper posture, regular stretching, and consistent exercise.
